Maryland League of Conservation Voters endorses Mary!

Today, I am very happy to let you know that I have just won the official endorsement of the Maryland League of Conservation Voters.

Our campaign has won many great endorsements in recent weeks, and I am proud of all of them. But this endorsement from the state’s leading environmental lobbying group is special to me because our state’s green heritage means so much to me and because  I have worked hard for years to build a greener and more sustainable city.

As a parks professional, a member of the Baltimore City Sustainability Commission and a member of the Baltimore City Green Jobs Coalition, I have long worked to improve our parks, protect the urban environment, teach city youths to be good stewards of the Earth and help bring the green-energy jobs that will be so important to our future to Baltimore.

I see the League of Conservation Voters’ endorsement as a  tribute to that work and a great show of faith in our campaign’s commitment to protecting the environment, saving the bay and building a greener Maryland.

Our campaign has now won support not only from the state’s leading environmental lobby but from some of Maryland’s leading labor unions (the Metro Baltimore Council AFL-CIO and the Laborers International Union of North America),  from leading advocates for empowering women and protecting our reproductive rights (NARAL Pro-choice Maryland and the Democratic Women Political Action Committee) and from leading advocates for gay and lesbian rights (Equality Maryland, the Stonewall Democrats of Central Maryland and the Gay and Lesbian Victory Fund). All that support comes on top of the early endorsement we won in May from the state’s largest progressive organizing group, Progressive Maryland.

With of so many strong and progressive voices supporting us, our campaign has built a great coalition for change that we can take to the voters with real pride over the final five weeks of our campaign.
